Personality[]

A sarcastic man armed with an acerbic wit, a brutal honesty and a lot of internalised anger, the Nineteenth Caretaker was dark and, at times, manipulative. He was perfectly comfortable with placing his companions in danger if it meant appeasing his curiosity, often leaving them out of the details in his plans, or using them to distract attention away from himself. However, if he believed the situation was too dangerous for them, the Caretaker would send his companions to the safety of the IDRIS while staring down the threat alone.

He was an unreadable, guarded anti-authoritarian with a mischievous streak, holding himself in high regard, and was prone to judging those whom he felt were naïve or primitive compared to his intellect. When he disagreed with something, the Caretaker would scorn and get angry, denying the facts given to him in these situations. He was more adept at noticing the flaws of humanity, but he never hesitated to put himself in harm's way to protect the people of Earth.

Despite coming across as uncaring, with a disregard for social niceties, the Nineteenth Caretaker would fight to protect those in his care, and he would react with devastation if harm befell them. However, for the most part, he was far more detached than his predecessors and was occasionally callous, reacting with indifference when interacting with someone who had suffered an emotional loss, and laughing at the humour in other's misery, though he would apologised for the latter.

Authoritative, yet rebellious, the Caretaker was quick to demand action just as much as he felt compelled to take action himself. If unsatisfied with someone's handling of a situation, he would step in forcefully and take charge, and could be considered authoritative to the point of egocentricity.

He would always try to use a big word rather than a small one if one was available, referring to a dance party as a "rhythmic ceremonial ritual". He could also be a showoff with his knowledge, as, when he saw a dinosaur tooth, he identified it as a "third incisor from the apex of the dental bridge".

The Caretaker often had very strong disgust towards people who he saw as close-mindedly stubborn, selfishly goal-driven, or misguidedly evil. These types of people would anger him further if they refused to listen to him, ignored his protests, or went to absurd lengths just to dodge the risk of being proven wrong.

Although he appeared hedonistic, the Nineteenth Caretaker's personal philosophies were ones of living life to the fullest, and following a path of his own choosing. He was a firm believer that everyone had the power to create their own destiny. He appeared laid-back because he understood that there were things in life he could not control, but also believed that a person was fully responsible for the parts they could.

The Caretaker rarely held grudges, and did not seem to mind if people wronged him. This was made evident when Milo Clancey attempted to mug him; the Caretaker did not fight back, but instead helped and gave advice to Milo, eventually inviting him into the IDRIS as a companion.

Though an honorable man, he was not above a spot of pilfering. He was also a lot more cunning and aware of his surroundings than he initially appeared, as he's shown on multiple occasions outwitting those he encountered. He was overconfident about his plans, even if he didn't think they would work. Even though he sent his companions on unpredictable and outrageous errands, he always had their best interests at heart and cared for them unconditionally.

Habits and Quirks[]

Much like his eleventh incarnation, the Nineteenth Caretaker also used hand gestures to extenuate a point, but applied more dedication to his movements, standing firm, while speaking with conviction, though would become more spontaneous when panicking or under threat.

Skills[]

The Nineteenth Caretaker was a gifted strategist and tactician; his craftiness best showcased by his skill at chess and gambling. He was also a skilled diplomat and linguist, as well as having a knack for disguises.

Whilst normally peaceful, the Caretaker would, when pressed, resort to hand-to-hand combat with an effectiveness which belied his age, often using his mastery of Venusian aikido when the situation called for it.

The Caretaker was a master chef, often taking it upon himself to provide his companions and friends with excellent cooking. He was also an amateur botanist, with knowledge of a wide variety of plants and their effects on the body.

Something of a showman, the Caretaker was an adept physical performer, and deployed a repertoire of magic tricks, illusions and escape artistry as part of his plans.

A lover of music, the nineteenth incarnation was a good singer, as well as a gifted flute and French horn player. He also displayed skill at playing the ucalaly, singing lullabies with one to pacify a crying child.
